Sunshine and smiles were the order of the day as Cowplain Bowling Clubs members welcomed more than 100 invited guests to celebrate the official opening of the Clubs new world-class-all-weather playing surface.

The memorable occasion being the culmination of the effort and dogged determination shown over many months by a small group of dedicated club members in compiling the successful bid made to the Sport the Sport England Inspired Facilities Fund.

After performing the Official Opening and unveiling the Sport England plaque, the The Mayor of Havant, Marjorie Smallcorn stepped onto the green to bowl alongside Robert Paxton (World Indoor No. 1), Fred Mant (Club President) and Peter Crowley (Club Project Leader).

The Club owes a great deal of gratitude for the support received from The Sport England Inspired Facilities Fund, Havant Borough Council, Dales Sports Surfaces and many other organisations in making it possible for Cowplain Bowling Club to have this wonderful facility which will encourage and promote the enjoyable sport of bowling for many years to come.
